Hand sanitiser thief in Bangkok

We all know how difficult it is to find medical masks and hand sanitiser these days amid the COVID-19 outbreak. And desperate times call for desperate measures – or at least that’s what this guy believed.

Caught red-handed
A 55-year-old man got caught red-handed on a CCTV camera while stealing a big bottle of hand sanitiser meant for public use at one of a BTS station in Bangkok.
At first, he seemed like an ordinary commuter who wanted to keep his hands clean after he got out of the station. And after sanitising his hands, he looked as if he was going to walk away.
He then paused for a brief moment, looking a bit hesitant. Maybe the guy was reconsidering the whole thing or just checking if the staff or anyone else was looking.
By the end of the video, he snatched the whole bottle and casually walked away – what a sneaky man.
According to Khaosod, no charges have been made against him. Also, there’s no mention whether he returned the hand gel or not.
Netizens made light of the situation
Many commenters were just laughing about the whole incident while some were baffled by his “bravery,” considering the fact that there were obviously going to be security cameras at the station.
Translation: Didn’t he think there were any cameras?
This video might seem funny at first, but it also shows how important resources like hand sanitisers are during a time like this. So what do we do? Don’t steal! Leave it for others to use – they need it too.
