After cities like Pattaya, Patong, And Khon Kaen have cancelled Songkran festivities, Bangkok is following suit by scraping its Songkran party on Khao San Road.

This iconic party has been ongoing in the city for over 40 years, attracting swarms of both local and foreign party-goers to celebrate Thailand’s water festival each year in April.

President of the Khaosan Business Association, Piyabutr Jeewaramonaikul, also announced that the neighbouring communities of Bang Lumphu and Wisutkrasat will be cancelling their Songkran-related activities in light of the virus.

Bangkok Post reported that The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will also be deciding whether to proceed with other Songkran events in the city.

Other famous event organisers such as GCIRCUIT has also postponed its highly anticipated SK2020 party to next year for the safety of its guests.

Travellers looking to travel to Thailand for Songkran are advised to postpone their plans and stay tuned for more updates.
