Prepare the reopening
Khao San Road, along with other nightlife districts in Bangkok, became frighteningly empty without travellers over the past months after COVID-19 prompted travel bans worldwide, putting Thailand’s economy in jeopardy.
After the country proved to effectively handle the pandemic, Bangkok revealed on Wednesday the plan to reopen Khao San Road and boost local businesses at the same time.

Sakoltee Phattiyakul, the city’s Deputy Governor, conveyed that the city is planning for all street vendors and shops to reopen at the end of October.
However, the reopening day could either be 30th or 31st this month since the board still hasn’t decided on the exact date.

While the government is still working on opening the borders safely, Khao San Road will need Thai folks and residents to help bring its usual lively vibe back, said Mr Phattiyakul.
He said to attract local visitors, the city will add more shops in the area as well as organise promotional events monthly.
We can already picture Khao San Road as a vibrant night market surrounded by raving bars and clubs – can’t wait until the end of the month.
