As COVID-19 disrupts our social life, some netizens have turned their back on the real-world by taking refuge in a hilarious Facebook group called “A group where we all pretend to be ants in an ant colony.”

The group’s description reads, “In this group, we are ants. We worship The Queen and do ant stuff. Welcome to the colony” – Yep, you read that right.

Since the start of the coronavirus outbreak, this online colony have expanded exponentially.

On 23 April 2020, the group crossed the 1 million mark. As of 28 April 2020, the group now boasts more than 1.5 million “ant” members from around the world, garnering over half a million members in just 5 days

In the group, everybody virtually does all the ant stuff including lifting lollipop or chips and defending their colony.

Members can even give themselves ant names simply by putting the word “ant” in front of their actual names – Hi, I’m Ant Eddie, nice to meet you

The group is also packed with funny memes involving ants that will make you laugh out loud.
