Thailand And Singapore Off England’s Quarantine List, Travellers Don’t Need To Self-Isolate

Thailand added to England’s Travel Corridor

Good news, travellers. England’s Travel Corridor list now includes Thailand and Singapore, which means that visitors from these countries are exempt from the 2-week quarantine upon arrival.

TODAY Singapore reported that this will come into effect from 19 September, 4am UK time, which is Sunday, 10am here in Thailand. The rule applies as long as travellers have not transited through countries that aren’t on England’s list of approved countries 14 days before their arrival.

Assessed for low infection risks

The decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases in Thailand and Singapore is what prompted ministers to add the countries to the Travel Corridor list, shared the the UK’s department of Transport and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in a statement. This was assessed by the Joint Biosecurity Centre.

This also meant that the UK government is taking consistent action to ensure that the virus is contained by removing high-risk countries from the list.

FCDO shared that Thailand and Singapore are currently exempt from their global advisory against non-essential travel.

Those planning to travel into England have also been advised to keep up with the latest announcements on their website. Though a quarantine is no longer mandatory, Thai travellers will still be required to complete a passenger locater form online before entering the country, or risk facing a £100 (~฿4,000) fine.
