Medical masks, among hand sanitisers and other cleaning solutions, are in high demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has led to many people getting their hands on the items first and then reselling them at higher prices for more profit.

Translation: “Is anyone looking for a mask? I promise they’re not crazy expensive.”

It was found that a female 7-11 employee in Bangkok had sold medical masks she bought from the outlet she was working at, with transactions taking place on Facebook.

The masks were being sold at much more expensive prices than usual. For example, a 5-piece package was now priced at ฿99 while its original price was only ฿39.

Earlier this week, CP All, which is the company that runs 7-11 Thailand, released a statement regarding the situation.

The statement conveyed that the company has done an investigation and found that the employee was proven guilty. So, the company decided to let her go, as well as putting the outlet on probation so they’d never let something like this happen again.

In a crisis like this, it’s best to look out for each other instead of taking advantage of the situation. This way, we’ll be safe together.
