Thailand vaccine passports
Thailand’s Covid-19 vaccination programme started in 2021 is progressing steadily alongside different government initiatives to combat the virus and its effects on peoples’ livelihoods.
Throughout the inoculation scheme’s development, the Thai government repeatedly insisted against joining the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) ‘Vaccine’ Passport’ program. However, it seems that today they have changed their minds.

Government issued inoculation certificates for international travel
Given the green light by the Ministry of Public Health’s Department Director-General, Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, the “vaccine passport” will be a certificate of vaccination for those who have received FDA-approved Covid-19 vaccine shots allowing them to travel both in and out of the country, according to Bangkok Post.
The Royal Gazette posted yesterday the format of the vaccine passport, which was accompanied by a directive allowing only six disease control officials to legitimise the individual travel document.

The contents will include the name of the vaccination certificate holder as well as their national identification or passport number in English along with stamps of approval from the Department of Disease Control under MOPH.
Kids under the age of seven must have their parents’ signature on the document while those who cannot write are allowed the substitution of fingerprint as their signature.
Following behind closely
Thailand might have taken longer than the others to adopt the “vaccine passport” programme, but it is following behind closely. Plus, it is never a bad idea to be a little cautious when it comes to health concerns.
