Thailand sees 11 new COVID-19 infections in Bangkok, bringing up the total number of cases to 70.
According to The Public Health Ministry, all 11 patients are Thai – 5 of them are men, aged 25-38. They were among a group of 15 who reportedly shared a glass and a cigarette at a party that took place on 27th and 29th last month. However, 4 out of the group were tested negative.
Some members of the group met with travellers from Hong Kong days before the party, said Dr. Sukhum Karnchanapimai, permanent secretary for public health.
Avoid large crowds and gatherings
The ministry also confirmed that these new patients were the first cases to be infected as a group inside the country.
Furthermore, the 11 have been classified by the ministry as “super spreaders,” meaning they could’ve also infected a lot of other people.
According to the Bangkok Post, 34 patients have been discharged in Thailand so far while 24 are still being treated in hospital – one is in serious condition at Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute.
If you can find a mask, wear one. Also, it is highly advised to constantly clean your hands. Most importantly, try your best to avoid crowded areas or party scenes, and don’t share your drinks and food with others for now – take care, everyone!
