Thai Man Cosplays As Corpse During Marathon And Scares The Crap Out Of Fellow Runners

Runner dresses as corpse for charity

When we think of marathons, we image crowds running in modern sportswear. But this man didn’t think it would be memorable enough to wear the usual Adidas or Nike…so he chose to come dressed as a corpse a legit-looking one at that.

On 26th August 2019, a photographer named Samakiat Thammachot uploaded an album of photos he’d taken from Mairood Challenge Run 2019, a local charity run which took place in Trat province.

One of the photos shook the Thai internet; it was that of a runner who cosplayed as a corpse wrapped in a white sheet with flowers in his hands, and a cotton ball in one of his nose holes. Ok…

The picture has been shared over 26,000 times since being uploaded

Corpse man was actually participating in cosplay contest

It goes without saying that the man was participating in a cosplay contest, which was a part of the marathon, along with many other runners.

Talk about dedication!

The corpse costume put him in 6th place.

Congratulations buddy! We really think you might get a better spot at a Halloween contest though.

Thai netizens are loving his costume

Turns out this picture is so scary, it’s hilarious. Many commenters tagged their friends to share this amusing incident while others were making jokes about the guy’s choice of running attire.

Translation: Other runners would run to the destination quickly because of him.

Charity run for HIV patients

Samakiat shared with Dailynews that he volunteered as a marathon photographer because the event was donating money to Phra Baht Nam Phu temple, which is a non-government organisation that provides healthcare for HIV patients situated in Lop Buri province.

At first, Samakiat didn’t think that being Corpse Man would get him much attention. That was until his friend notified him that his photo was going around like wildfire.

I must say, he’s got the number 1 spot in my heart for creativity. But I also agree with many commenters on not wanting to see him taking part in a night marathon. Ever.

If you want to help contribute to Phra Baht Nam Phu temple, you can do so at the temple or visit their website for more details.
