More easing on the lockdown

As the COVID-19 infection rates in Thailand stay low, the government is reportedly planning to ease the lockdown again on 17th May. This time, the plan will include reopening big premises such as department stores and malls.

Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said the centre will draft the relaxation measures next Thursday after gathering opinions about the situation from Friday to Tuesday.
He also said the relaxation will surely come if the number of COVID-19 cases continues to stay low.
If everything goes as planned, this will be the second round of easing measures after the government decided to reopen small businesses on 3rd May.
Malls strengthen health measures

Thailand’s leading malls including ICONSIAM, Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery have reportedly levelled up hygienic measures to prevent more transmissions after the reopening.
Their measures will cover 3 key areas including:
- Keep all service providers healthy by running daily health checks and providing protective gears for them.
- Keep retail properties clean by deep cleaning all areas before reopening, limiting occupancy to allow social distancing, screening visitors, and cleaning all touchpoints more often.
- Help the customers shop with ease by requiring everyone to wear face masks and cleaning hands with provided hand sanitiser.
Let’s hope the infection numbers stay low, so we can finally return to our normal life!
