For those who fantasise about laying on a beach chair and absorbing cosy vibes that come with a sea breeze, your happiness can finally come back as beaches in Chonburi have reopened.

“New-normal” beaches with some restrictions

Narongchai Khunpluem, the mayor of Saen Suk sub-district in Chonburi province, has announced on his personal Facebook that Bang Saen’s beaches will reopen from 1st June 2020 onwards. But, due to COVID-19, there are still some restrictions that all visitors and locals should follow.

Some of the rules and preventive measures include:

  • All beaches in the area will be closed every Monday
  • Foods and drinks will be available from 5th June 2020 onwards
  • Alcohol drinks are still banned
  • Beach chairs will be set, following social distancing rules
  • If there are too many visitors in the area, related agencies might consider temporarily closing the locations.

However, Mayor Sonthaya Khunplome mentioned that this opening comes with some preventive rules too.

For example, operators of beach chairs and umbrella rentals must make sure they are set at least one metre apart. Also, the beaches will be closed for clean-up from Tuesday to Thursday in the second or third weeks of the month. Plus, people can only take a one-day trip to Koh Lan for now as accommodation providers on the island are not allowed to open.

If you plan to visit Chonburi for nice beaches, make sure you follow all preventive rules and avoid entering some spaces if it is too crowded.
