Thailand Begins Making AstraZeneca Vaccines, Siam Bioscience Gets FDA’s Greenlight

AstraZeneca produced in Thailand

Due to the urgency in tackling the surge of Covid-19 cases, the Thai government has been rolling out vaccinations produced overseas – they just recently imported one million doses of Sinovac inoculations.

In order to expedite the vaccination process, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorised Siam BioScience to produce AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines in Thailand.

Here’s a look at what went into the FDA’s decision.

Covid – 19 updates:

Followed safety standards by Thai government

The first lot of AstraZeneca vaccines will be sent to the Thai Government for distribution as soon as possible, announced by AstraZeneca (Thailand) Co., Ltd.’s President, Mr. James Teak, reported Kapook

Siam Bioscience has produced over 60 samples of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Through trial and error, and extensive research, Siam BioScience’s AstraZeneca vaccine finally met the quality standards set by the Department of Medical Sciences and Ministry of Public Health.

The locally produced vaccine also passed analytical tests in Europe and the United States of America.

AstraZeneca’s efficacy rates measured

Two doses of Oxford’s AstraZeneca vaccine have resulted in a 76% success rate among symptomatic Covid-19 patients, based on 32 trial participants in the United States and South America, according to Science Magazine

However, there have been more than 30 deaths and 200 cases of blood clotting incidents in Europe connected to the vaccine’s usage, reported Bio Space.

Further research for the vaccination is highly recommended by the World Health Organization.

Easier access to vaccinations

Due to the FDA’s decision, vaccinations will become more accessible in Thailand, and many are going to be able to protect themselves from the virus more easily.

The urgent need to solve this global crisis requires everyone’s efforts. If we continue to cooperate and comply with necessary procedures, it will be easier to keep all of us safe.

Will you consider getting a locally made AstraZeneca vaccine? We’d love to hear from you in the comments.
