Scientists Detect Possible “Alien” Life On Venus, 2020 Continues To Get Wilder

Is there life on other planets?

Outer space still has millions of things humans have yet to explore. Scientists have been researching space in order to know the secrets that revolve around it, like the possibility of living on and take advantage of the space and other planets or whether aliens are out there.

Recently, scientists discovered what seemed to be a sign that the planet Venus could have life unbeknownst to us.

A signal of possible life on Venus

On 14th September 2020, a team led by Professor of Astronomy Jane Greaves from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom revealed that they had found phosphine gas in the atmosphere of Venus.

According to the team, this chemical substance is only produced by microbes or by human technological processes. On Earth, phosphine is produced by bacteria that thrive in low-oxygen environments

“The most plausible explanation for phosphine, as fantastical as it might sound, is life,” said Clara Sousa-Silva, molecular astrophysicist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology who also co-wrote the study.

The researchers are still figuring out if there are any other ways that could generate phosphine. There are 2 potential aspects: first, that there might be something happening within Venus’s atmosphere, or second, that there is a form of life creating it.

Whether there is life on Venus or not, this is an interesting finding that makes us excited to know more.

You might want to imagine how Venus’ inhabitants probably look right now. They might be very strong and have lots of advanced technology, or not look anything like how we imagine aliens to be. Let’s wait and see!
