This Monday, 13th April, a spokesman for the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), Taweesilp Visanuyothin, confirmed the details of today’s new cases.

The new cases in Bangkok consisted of:

  • 18 had contact with existing patients
  • 1 Thai returnee
  • 1 who went to crowded areas
  • 3 medical staff
  • 2 who work in at-risk jobs

The others were:

  • 2 returnees from Satun
  • 1 returnee from Yala

2 more deaths totalling to 40

The two deaths included:

  • 56-year-old Thai man who had previous contact with existing patients
  • 43-year-old man with diabetes, chronic kidney failure, and high blood pressure

The graph above shows a promising, gradual decline from 8th April, which had 111 cases. Currently, the total number of cases amounts to 2,579 and 40 deaths, according to the Department of Disease Control website.

The safety measures taken by the government seem to be working so far. The banning of alcohol probably helped and will continue to do so during the postponed Songkran season, which means fewer chances of clusters over this week.

At this rate, it should keep going down as long as people obey curfews and stay at home.
